Founder's Day 2022 867 0

St Alfege Church, Greenwich

Founder's Day at The John Roan School is a very special occasion in our calendar when we celebrate our proud history of educating the young people of Greenwich for almost 400 years.

After online celebrations for the past 2 years, it was wonderful to be able to bring students and welcome guests to St Alfege Church, Greenwich. Our guest speaker this year was former student, Chief Magistrate, Paul Goldsprings, who spoke about growing up in Greenwich and attending our school, and the difference between having ambitions, not just dreams, and investing in them. His advice was "aim high" and have a plan, do your research and seek help from those who can help you to achieve those ambitions.

We were proud to also welcome Deputy Mayor, Dominic Mbang, the family of Logan Finch, representatives from The John Roan Foundation and the JRSA, plus quite a few former students from the Old Roan Association.

Take a look at some of the incredible performances from our young musicians and watch the whole service here.
