New for 2021
The John Roan Sixth Form Scholarship Programme
Generously supported by The John Roan Foundation.
Scholarships will be awarded in core A-Level subjects with a view to expanding this to include all subjects across BTEC and A-Level within the next two years. Each scholarship will total the value of £200 in the form of A-Level appropriate magazine subscriptions, event tickets and book tokens, all of which are intended to further enhance our students’ university applications, particularly to the Russell Group of Universities.
Oxbridge Mentoring Competitive Admissions Programme (in partnership with Blackheath High)
Competiton for places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities is extremely tough and the admissions process differs from other universities. Students who aspire to study at either of these universities will be supported with a programme of tailored mentoring and interview training to help to prepare them for success.
The John Roan Mentoring Programme
Students will be allocated a mentor for the whole of the academic year, in a career that is of interest. Students and mentors will meet each half term to work on a relevant project.
The EPQ
The EPQ is a level 3 qualification (worth half an A Level or 28 UCAS points)
It is an independent research project which is overseen by a supervisor, and which extends the skills required at and beyond A Level. The EPQ is a key part of our academic offer as well as our Oxbridge and BTEC pathways at the John Roan Sixth Form.
Gold Arts Award (A Level 3 Qualification: worth 16 UCAS tariff points)
The Arts Award qualifications are designed to inspire learners to grow their arts and leadership talents.
Core Maths (Equal to AS qualification)
Core Maths is an additional qualification which will help to develop your maths skills beyond GCSE, and also support other subjects that require maths skills but not A-level Maths, e.g. science.
Core Maths involves the application of maths skills to real life problem solving
Required: GCSE Maths Grade 4-9
