Welcome

Thank you for your interest in The John Roan School.  We are a rapidly improving comprehensive and non-selective school that serves a diverse community in Greenwich.  Our strong values underpin all of the work of the school:

  • We are PROUD of ourselves, our community and our environment.
  • We are caring and RESPECT difference and diversity.
  • We are INVOLVED, we reflect on our work and actions and are good citizens.
  • We are DETERMINED, we are on time, prepared to try our best to reach our goals.
  • We aim to be EXCELLENT in all we do.

We want everyone to fulfil their potential by exploring and growing their individual passions and this is as important for every member of staff as it is for each student at the school.  Our work begins long before anyone starts their first day.  As soon as you receive an offer of employment from The John Roan School, we will write a welcome letter inviting you for an induction day at the school.  This is a chance to meet the Principal and senior staff and for you to provide us with any information you believe we should know about you.  You will also be provided with your new starter documentation, including conditions of your employment.  We do this so that on your first day you already feel reassured that this is the right school for you.

United Learning is committed to creating an inclusive culture and building a more diverse workforce, particularly at leadership level. To support this we have our Minority Ethnic Future Leaders Network - a series of networks for teaching staff from groups under-represented in leadership - our first network will be for Minority Ethnic teachers.
