Year 11 have their second round of Mock Exams between Monday February 27th and Friday March 17th

Why Mock Exams?

During Year 11, our students sit two mock exam sessions (in November and in March). These allow students to get used to the final assessments for each of their subjects, gives them feedback on how they are doing and how effective their revision has been, and gives us as their teachers a snapshot of progress which is used for re-teaching and interventions. In addition to this, research has shown it can hugely reduce anxiety for the real examinations.

Mock exams allow us to get an accurate picture of where our students are now, and help us in making a plan to support their progress before the final assessments.

Dates and times

The mock exam period will run from February 27th to March 17th. With the exception of some students with extra time, these exams will fall within the timings of the school day. It is important that students are in school, on time, for the entirety of this exam period.

Access Arrangements

For any students with access arrangements (e.g. Extra Time, A Scribe/Reader, Small Group, Breaks), these will be honoured and given to the student in these mock exams. If you have any questions, please contact Ms Ismail.

Interventions

Students will be offered wraparound interventions to support them in the run up to their Mock Exams. These will take the form of Breakfast Boosters (from 7:45am) and Excellence Hours (until 4pm) on the day of/day before their exams. These are optional but encouraged as they will be focused on last minute prep and support.

Revision

Students have looked at revision strategies and timetables in form time and assemblies to support them with their revision. We have had external speakers in who lead a half-day session on study skills with all students. Teachers have given resources for revision and/or directed students to appropriate websites to support their revision.

Revision Timetable Template

Revision Timetable

To maximise your revision time, it is important to plan out what you are going to revise and when. In general, revising for 45 minutes at a time and varying short and long breaks is best. You can download the template below and fill in your lessons, and what you are going to revise and when.
