Flying Start – Bridging Courses for Sixth form Success

To ensure that all of our students successfully transition from Year 11 we have established Sixth Form Bridging Teams across the curriculum to produce dynamic and challenging introductory sessions for every subject (A-level and BTEC).

Year 11 students who have applied to The John Roan Sixth Form will have been allocated to their subjects of choice. All students will soon be contacted by their respective subject teachers (by school email and possibly Show My Homework) and programmes of study will begin (on a fortnightly rolling basis) from the week beginning 11th May. Programmes of study will involve a considerable amount of independent study but there will also be opportunities offered for ‘live’ remote teaching ‘taster’ sessions.
‘Flying Start’ is also open to those who have yet to enrol with us for Sixth Form next September. Enrolment to the John Roan Sixth from remains open, and any current Year 11 students who have yet to apply and/or want to take part in ‘Flying Start’ are very welcome to do so by contacting the Head of Sixth Form, Miss Cook, at
Should you have any questions about this exciting programme of study then please do not hesitate to contact me at
Yours faithfully,
